Hi guys

Im doing some electronics for a project and im not sure what wireless system i should use?

I need a reciever to be operated with battery power. from research i can tell that a Radio frequency recievers use the same amount of energy when its in active mode as it does in idle mode.
Would an infared reciever be a better choice? Does it use much energy when idle and will the battery life be reasonable? or would it drain pretty quick?

thanks guys

I found a tiny 433MHz RF Link receiver that operates on 80uA @1.5V.
