I'm taking the piss.

I certainly won't design a complete circuit for him, there are plenty of designs on Google.
 
Homes have electricity. They don't need an inverter.
If you don't have electricity then an inverter won't work because you won't be able to charge its battery unless you have a huge solar panel or a windmill generator.

If you buy an inverter then it will cost a lot less than you can make one. Power it with a deep discharge battery. The battery current will be about 150A so the battery might explode.
