Hi there,

I am totally new on this forum I just find it while searching for a way to add text, lines, graduations around my knobs etc. on the front panel of my instrument case.

My first idea was to use Microsoft Visio but no it is not a good idea so question: Is there a software that will allow me to design the visual information of my instrument case front panel. I will then print the result on transparent film on a laser printer and put the transparant film on the panel. This is just an idea something better may exist.

It is almost impossible that something like this doesn't exist it is certainly a common procedure. What are the solution ?

Nice !

Thank you, bye.
Pierre.

So what's wrong with Visio?

I am not a specialist with Visio but it looks more lile an advanced diagramming program I am loosing time just trying to make a scale around my knob it would a lot easier to drop a component like a ' knob graduation object ' and edit his properties like scale range values 0..10 , number of increments values, angles of rotation, diameter, size of numbers etc. it is too much work with Visio.

No it is for designing a meter, nice but not exactly what I have in mind.

Is it possible to do something as nice as pictured in the photo above ?

You got it ! The is far better than printing on transparent film and then glueing it to the frontpanel. It will give a real professional finishing touch to our projects.

I have tried the FrontDesigner demo version and you see immediatly what's wrong with Visio for designing instrument front panels it is a thousand time faster it is designed specifically for that, try it.

Thank you, bye.
