Infrared reciever module.

hello.
i want to know about infrared .some basic guide lines would be enough,specially with IR reciever modules.secondly, when using replacements for older ones which things should be taken care of.just operating frequencies for different modules/operating voltage? what else?
further more if they are used as replacement each having different operating frequency. what would be effects.

In my experience the frequency has little or no effect, we only keep one type as a replacement for all types - and have never had a problem.

ok. thanks for quick reply. a little i already know about ir modules and i think replacing one with different frequency like 36khz with 34khz may reduce the effective reception range of device?

In theory, but it's already far longer than it ever needs to be - and you can't tell any difference at well over normal distances (I don't have a room large enough - even at work - to exceed the range).

yes. may be you are very right. you are experienced person in electronics and most of the times theory and practice are different from each other.that,s why i always give priority to discuss before embark on anything that i did,nt understand much.thank you very much sir.

Look at the datasheets for the TSOP range of many IR receiver ICs. They all have different baud rates.
