im clueless....need some help and advice

Hi All

I know next to nothing about circuits and electronics but Iv found a simple project that I plan on making....here it is

The PopSci How 2.0 Blog - Make a High-Speed Flash

Now the problem I have is identifieng this item

(1) Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) sensitive gate 0.8A 400V (Digi-Key #EC103D-ND; .39)

the only electronics shop local to me is Maplins (Maplin Electronics ? Website- Ion 35mm Film Scanner). Could anyone here help me out identiving it from there site so when I visit it I dont waste a trip buying the wrong one?

Go to digikeys website. Find the part under the digikey number. Once you find the part you will have the manufactures part number. Then you can find it anywhere it exists.

That part is made by Littlefuse/Teccor. The manufactuers Part number is EC103D It has kind if a bland, genaric datasheet to go with it. https://www.electro-tech-online.com/custompdfs/2008/12/E5SensitiveSCR.pdf

A part with the same specs made by another manufacturer should work just fine if you can't find this exact one.
