HP Wireless module from Inkjet - can it be used on a project?

I've got a old printer I ripped apart and found a the HP wireless module (HP P/N 1150-7924)

I was thinking maybe this could be hooked up to a microcontroller/Arduino and I can get wireless working.

Has anyone tried something like this before or is it a fruitless exercise?

I would have said not, it would be EXTREMELY difficult to use, and WiFi probably isn't what you're after anyway?.
