HP 1740A Oscilloscope repair question.

I purchased a HP 1740A Oscilloscope from E_bay for $80. It shows the traces on the screen and it seems that everything is working. I'm a newbie with Oscopes. The problem I'm having is the trace on the screen is not always showing up. Channel A volts/Div switch needs cleaning as the traces
