How to slow down Servo Motor

I am using a Servo Motor HS-422 and I am using Matlab to control it. It is too fast. Any ideas on how to slow it down?

Move it in the smallest increments possible over a greater period of time. Say for example instead of sending the signal to jump from 180 deg to 270 deg, send the correct pulse width for 181deg, wait a half second and send the pulse width that correlates to 182 deg.

I can do that. But its a lengthy process. But thanks for the idea. It might work. I never thought of that.
