How to measure Ampere with digital multimeter ?

thanks in advance

You connect the multimeter amp terminals in series (not parallel) with the load you want to measure (select either the low current or high current terminals depending upon the load). The set the multimeter to the appropriate current range.

I have measure that way ?

By measuring , the digital multimeter shows 1 ?
not the actual ampere ?

Did you blow the fuse? If you try to measure current like voltage it can blow the fuse because you make a short-circuit through the current meter.

Maybe beyond the link(s) a picture will help. Note how the amp meter is in series with the load to be measured while the volt meter is placed in parallel across the load.

If the meter has multiple ranges for current make sure you start with the highest range and work down if you are unsure of what the load current may be.

If you initially tried to measure current with the meter in parallel with the load as shown for a voltmeter there is a good possibility you either blew a fuse assuming the meter is fused or destroyed the meter input. The 1 you describe could be an indication of an over range condition depending on the meter used.

Hope that helps....
Ron
