Hello guys

I am a student and am trying to do a pic based project.
The idea is to build an energy metering device for single phase ac.
The Pic will be used to generate pulses whose rate corresponds to the power and these pulses will then drive a dial.

I need help on which Pic to use(I need the cheapest and simplest for this application) and also on how to go about the design.

Thanks in advance

For beginning with PIC's you could try looking at my tutorials.

The UK magazine EPE did an 'Electricity Meter' a good few years ago, this used a 16C84 with an external A2D, fed from a hall effect current sensor. It used a four digit LED display, and gave the cost of electricity used, I built one - it's very impressive!.

Today you would probably choose a PIC with an internal A2D, and probably an LCD rather than LED display.
