How do you strip EL Wire?

I have a tiny strand of wire that I can't strip. Every time I try to strip it the tiny coil of wire wrapped around the strand breaks.

I removed the battery box from a strip of EL wire I bought on eBay. I want to add a small plug to the end, so I can add any power device necessary.

Anyone have some tips about getting this done?

Thanks for the links guys. I don't have my toolkit with me, but I was able to strip the wires by carefully cutting the film coatings with a razor. I think my next investment will be in a proper pair of wire-strippers.

The flame from a match is usually enough to fry insulation on thin wires so that it can be rubbed off easily/carefully with very fine abrasive cloth.
