Hot Water Circulating Pump problem.

Wet bearings

In case you are unaware of this, the pump should NEVER be run dry. If it is run dry it will get damaged very quickly.
(I learn't this the hard way - the screech was awfull)
 
I need more info to help you. I can not read the code on the pump . I need a better picture if possible. This is a different type of pump than I work on so be patient. It is a 3 speed motor with multiple windings. we need a color code for it.

You could read the code off of the pump and type it in.
I have to go to work soon so the response will not be as fast as this one.
Find out what the brand of Boiler it came out of. Maybe we can find an owners manual from them.
 
I think it was from an 'Ideal' boiler,
it was in bits and i only saw the inner bits.

Anything else i can do to help ...

I could post the colours of the wires ...

Heres an overview of the pump and the associated bits.

The side-mounted terminal box which houses the capacitor and the
speed control was all in one piece, broken but still complete and
not attached to the pump, but hanging from its mains lead nearby.
It had become detached from the pump, and the pump connections
had pulled off, the connectors are little baby spade connectors.

I am pretty sure that there are no other bits or parts involved.

Heres a pic of the wires coming out of the pump.
The quality is not very good,
but its the best of about twenty snaps.
I think its good enough to show what is there.

This is where the pump wires were connected.
The pics arent very good,
i found a small lens and put it in front of my camera.
Not all the connections are shown,
but if more pics are needed i will try to take them.

I still have not figured out how a circuit could be wired.
It is possible that the switch ignores one of the smaller windings
in the 'MED' position, but i am still not yet able to come up with
an arrangement.

Maybe someone could see a possible wiring arrangement.

I have yet to determine each coils direction, i was thinking of
possibly using a compass and my power supply.

I think i found the site ...

says they are noisy ... ?
unfortunately i won't know if its noisy
untill i get it running.

Hi,

Someone has just given me a pump which is almost the same as the pump
i'm trying to fix.
Its the same size and shape, and it has a three speed switch in the
same place as the pump i'm trying to fix.
The LOW, MED and HIGH positions are the other way round on this one
and this one is red, the one i'm trying to fix is blue.

Fortunately this red pump i've just been given still has its mains
lead attached, so hopefully i can sort out where the internal wires
all go, as its all in one piece.

I haven't opened it up yet, i hope its similar enough to copy on to
the blue one, except of course that the switch is the other way round.
