Homemade radar system

Good evening at all,

I'm searching for a project to build a radar device or something similar.
I would detect any person moving within a certain area. I would use the system as a security system for some buildings in to a terrain. I would scan at 360° with a maximum distance of 500meters.
I was thinking to a Lidar system using a laser beam and analysing the back scattered radiation.
All my search has the same result: no projects available on the web. The project is too difficult to be realized... and so on...

I was ginving up since my idea seems to be not achivable but yesterday I found this:
https://www.wi-ltd.com/security/Per...ion_Systems/WG800_Radar_Site_Perimeter_System

Evenif is more than I need, basically is exactly what I mean.
Does somebody know how to builb something similar?

many thanks.

A price isn't given, but it does operate at 77 GHz. How much experience do you have with millimeter wavelength RF systems?

I think if you can revise your specification, particularly the 500 m range, you may get more productive answers.

Thanks John for your reply.
I do not have any experience with millimiter wavelength.
I agree with you, decreasing the range of 500 meters is not so easy to get evenif, the system I linked is able to go far a lot.
I found also another system and also in this case it's easy to reach hundreds of meters:

Thanks Menticol for your links, I saw them but it's not enough, I should contact the person that uploaded the video but I don't think she will help me.
In the meanwhile, I found something that make me right: it's possible to build an Home made radar! have a look here:

https://blog.makezine.com/2011/02/03/coffee-can-radar/

the only problem is that the course cost a lot of money and it's carried on in Massachusetts! Unfortunatly I'm in Italy.
...nobody is able to build a radar with a coupple of coffe cups?

ciao
