I have to make a mv(millivolt) ,function generator of sine,square and other wave forms .. can any one help me in this regard.

Didn't maxim use the ICL8038 and rename it, or make improvements on the original idea?

Yes, the Intersil 8038 work only up to 0.8...1MHz, but MAX038 up to 20MHz! The sinus output have lower distortion, and more power.

Who said he needed a 'serious' generator? DDS is only suitable where near perfect sinewaves are needed at millihertz resolutions, or for high precision frequency references.
