My course is basically electronics.It deals in
-

• 
  signal communications & processing,
  -microprocessor technology (Z80 microprocessor),
  -digital electronics,visual display systems(tv/video),
  - power electronics,
  -basic computer networking, and
  -software development
  .

Any project ideas geared towards the above topics will be highly appreciated

However, i have a bias towards computers(Networking and programming).

Am still searching for a suitable project.I spottd one on this site (Remote control by cellphone)but it was presented by a student last year!!

Maybe you can make a LAN based VOIP intercom.

You don't have to start from scratch. Since you are familiar with Z80 systems. Search Zilog's site for modules with built-in ethernet interface. You may also visit these Z80 based controller modules with ethernet.

how about taking a gps signal, using it to interlink with a map and give real time progress. speed, etc
