I am trying to fix an old monitor and assumed that the issue was with the power supply. The story basically goes that a Dell (E228WFPc) 22 incher stopped working, and an Acer (M190en02) 17 inch monitor had a problem that caused it to turn off after around 15 minutes. Moving the Acer parts to the Dell monitor displayed a 17 inch image on the screen. Then we tried moving the Acer power supply to the Dell chip connected to the Dell screen. The progress we made so far is that connecting the red wires and black wires together, then touching the brown and purple wires, makes the screen display white. The main situation is below and other pictures are in **broken link removed**

So what exactly is your question? If the wire colors indicate the same voltage simply tie them together. The chances of this working (reliably) or at all aren't that high, you can't just tack the power supply from a 17 inch monitor onto a 19 inch monitor and expect it to work.
