I'm kind of new to microcontroller. Can anyone tell me where to start?

For hobbyists and general users there are two main types micro controllers PIC and AVR. I personally recommend AVR's for more reasons than a 'new' person should want to get into. Research them both, post others questions here.

A good place to start is the sticky at the top of this forum. It is skewed toward pics but still useful.
