Having 8051 connected to home router through Eterneth- Where to start from?

Hello.

I'd like to start basically from zero to learn how to have an 8051 Uc to communicate with home Router through an Ethernet cable.

Where shall I start from?

Since its very new to me, i'd like to receive your guidance at this first stage.

You need a Ethernet controller to connect the microcontroller to internet.

Fred Eady did a lot with ethernet on a 8051.

You need to find a ISA Ethernet card that is NE2000 compatible.
also look at what edtp has. I have used there Packet Whacker.
