Hello.

Does the ratio Fundamental Active Power / Active Power of an appliance remain constant during the appliance's life, or is it not a constant value?

I mean, as it gets older, should I expect this ratio to get closer to zero?

Thank you.

What appliance are you referring to ? A Refrigerator, Stove , Toaster.

Are you talking about planned obsolescence.

Edit: Maybe I should be looking at Harmonic Power.

As far as I know it only applies to inductive, or inductive type, loads. Anything that causes the PF to go below 1.0 would have some harmonic power to it.

I would not think age would change inductance at all. Could change capacitance though, which if being used as a PFC, would start causing more harmonics, but I have no idea to what degree.

Arent harmonics generated due to non-linear loads?

About the power factor, In practice, does it decrease as the appliance ages?

(i'm not talking on specific appliances, but rather in general)
