H-Bridge with PWM current limit

Consider gate drivers of emitter follower pairs made of BC549 and BC559. You'll get reduced logic and simpler design.
 
The problem with emitter followers is that not that I'm going to use N channel MOSFETs, I'd have to build my own charge-pump. I would also have to use a small pull-down resistor to keep gate current up - This would waste a lot when it is powered if that makes sense.

I have found out about the IR2104. I found this out from a company which sells thousands of stepper motor drivers to both DIY CNC machine creators as well as large CNC-based companies. It seems like it will meet all of my requirements, but it does cost about £2.50 per IC.
