Goodman 6160 x pro sound thought one side

Hi everyone
my goodman 6160 x pro hi-fi system, the problem started with both side cutting out intermittently but still getting stereo thought headphones now the right side has cut out altogether I still get sound on left and full stereo headphones, I was told by a friend that headphone circuit was controlled by relay, He reckoned that relay was not closing properly,
any advice would be greatly appreciated

With one and both sides intermittant sound cutout it's likely to be a corrosion issue, in the connectors/sockets, or control switches/pots.

Try working all the connectors, switches and pots. Also check for signs of corrosion, like the chrome on the jack plugs gone rough or dull or dirty looking. If working the stuff for a while does not fix it you might need some spray cleaner, or it might be another issue altogether.
