You can also save money by using wall warts to power your projects. Beware of the lack of regulation in many of them; someonesdad at AAC posted some measurements of a sample of warts. It might also be wise to build yourself a power supply from a computer power supply; it would be inexpensive and you'd learn some good techniques and troubleshooting skills.
