Hi!
Just wondering if it is normal for a stepper motor to get hot during operation? Its not hot enough that I cant touch it, but definitely HOT
Thanks,
MBE
Depending on the stall current and load on the motor, well yeah, they can and will get quite hot. Quick way to tell if your going out of the limit - check the current being drawn
Quite normal - I've even seen them fitted with heatsinks to help keep them cooler. Like anything else, the closer you run them to their limits the hotter they get. DC motors often include cooling fan blades, but steppers don't run fast enough!.
