general question about a bench power supply

hello all, i have a general question about bench power supplies, there's two analog displays on the front of the power supply one is for voltage and the other one for current. The first one is the voltage supplied when you attached a load to it, what does the current display for? does it display how much current your circuit is pulling or is it how much current its supplying?

usually u can set a bench supply to a desired voltage which is displayed on the voltage screen even with no load then when u connect the load the current display will show u how much current is giving to supply that voltage on that load.

You've asked the same question twice; if you connect a 12:eek:hm: resistor to a 12V battery the circuit will pull 1A battery will supply 1A.

Both, the ampmeter is actually measuring the amount of current that your load is drawing.
The load determines the amount of current drawn and the power supply will deliver it until it reaches its output limit( the power supply cant force current into the load ,beyond what the load is drawing).
Some power supplies have adjustable voltage only and the load determines the upper current limit and some have adjustable voltage and current where you can adjust the upper current limit.

some bench supplies allow you to set the overcurrent trip level. while the power supply is in the mode to change the oc trip point, you will see that on the LEDs. In normal operation, though, it is the current being supplied.
