There is a separation between those who know and "have" and those who don't know and "don't have" and they fear us.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Age

The internet is free but, it slowly but, surely is being manipulated by power. Those of us who don't control it are un-aware of those who want to own it. We will continue to move forward to become the victims of this slavery to knowledge and could end in a dark age.

Just to have the ability to know and free to share it with other's like us, Only here are we are truly free.

The library is full of books but, how will we keep them for our children.

You want to know. Here is your chance while it last's. Enjoy, the savor and the flavor. It will be talked about in the future of the Golden Age of Knowledge.

Edit: We are the ones who have helped spawn it. We are the ones who should be the careful watchers against the criminals who want to own it.

It wont be the first time knowledge was manipulated or outright suppressed to control the population.

Ever read about the all mighty and all knowing and all powerful church and what wondrous things it did in its history relating to the bettermentand progress, or gross lack there of, of mankind? :(

It's the same over and over again. History will repeat itself according to the powers that be. Be they //...... + ≈ - ...... //

Edit: Our existence has it's way of equalizing everyone and everything.

One Huge EMP and all the stuff we have stored will be gone. The internet gone. Paper will still be here.

That depends on how close to the blast you are.

Us prairie dwellers aren't worth the nukes to get us with plus we still have enough old vehicles and equipment around that still work on points and condenser ignition systems or all mechanical diesel injection fuel systems that we can still keep going at some rate.

Besides half of us still don't have internet anyway so it going away isn't a real big deal either. ;)

More importantly all the minds full of information will still be here.

What happens to the paper when a huge fire breaks out??

You -do- know where you live, right?

Ok - while the above information is likely out of date, and it is also obviously biased - you might want to look into whether you're really "safe", as depending on first-strike or second-strike (and whether the "other side" has their maps up-to-date!), you are likely going to get a bit of fallout, being inside that crescent of missile silos.

"Out in the sticks" is likely to be as much of a target as being "in the city" so to speak; if there are any missile silos or military bases around you (the government tends to put them in these out of the way places), they will likely be sitting targets for nukes in such a scenario.

Of course, things may have changed since the time of the above information on that site - but I tend to doubt it. Perhaps there aren't as many silos or missiles "at ready" (maybe many got moved to subs, as part of START?), but I bet there's more than a few still left on the ground, in many "flyover" states.

Something to keep in mind - in the television movie "The Day After", the drama wasn't centered around a large city, but rather "flyover" country...
