I'm trying to build a time lapse tracking system and i need some help with what i need to power it. What im trying to do requires a motor to move my camera 1 meter in an hour. Im struggling to find something that turns slow enough without requiring additional gearing. I have been looking at stepper motors as but im not too clued up with what is needed to power and control them?

I am using one of these Glidetrack SD dolly for lightweight Prosumer camcorder tracking shots am i was thinking of just attaching the motor to a pulley that would pull the camera from one side to the other.

If you have any ideas i appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Andrew

I would suggest your problems are mainly mechanical? - and I would suggest adding a long screw thread that moves the camera along the track. Then use a stepper motor to turn the screw thread, controlling this from a microcontroller will give you as slow a movement as you want.
