i have a dimmer light what is permantly on, no matter what the dimmer is set to. i have taken it apart and there is a small circuit inside. could it be the triac (btb04) causing the problem?

pick 2 pins and short them together. Lamp stays on? pick another 2. If all 3 combinations leave the lamp on, then the triac is shot.
