External modules

I am getting troubles with Vista using the external modules for the Sim
Weather from VB 6 debugging or from direct use from finalized use as tool in simulator
Only a part is half working and it also does not use the 3 basic calls
Namely :
objectinit
objectrefresh
objectterm

Using XP it works
Note I reverted to simply trying the template
although I have designed fairly complicated modules
(for some 5 years)

If anybody is interested please contact me
First PM then Email
I have looked to do it in vb 2010 but nothing is the same
Not even talk about ActiveX.exe
Microsoft is really a joy killer
So I am lost ( it is not the first time )

I must admit that when installing Vb 6 it complains already that there is a compatibility problem
but no where could I find a solution
After installation it worked for almost a year .....
Why problems now ???

Thanks eTech,
I have now tried with "virgin"vista disk and the Modules still do not run correctly
Could you do me a big favor .that is if you have the time, could you try to install the "pic18moduletemplate"
through VB6 if you have it
I will switch this back to my original post
Done
I use External modules intensively
They are a GREAT time saver when debugging Basic or Assembly
I feel lost without them

If your referring to VB6 IDE, I dont develop VB6 apps...so I dont have the VB6 IDE and its not supported on Vista.
Its also not supported on Win7 but is tested on Win7 by MS to work in the event you want to buy a custom support contract.

Which VB6 development tools are you using?

here's a link to the Microslop's VB6 support Statement on Vista:

Thanks for the link eTeck

I use VISUAL STUDIO 6

The modules worked perfectly until 15 days ago
Now they only work on an old Xp system
Anything else is Ok in Vb6 usage
I wander if it could not be due to the Sim too ???
Anybody using External modules Please send feed back
Thanks

There is alot of reasons it could suddenly stop working.

All our App developers at my workplace all use Visual Studio 2012. Everyone runs Win7 Pro x64 (SP1).
In all honesty, I was a suprised, while reading some threads on this forum, how many people use Vista. We all migrated from Win XP Pro to Win 7 about 2 years ago.

You should give some serious thought to upgading to Win 7 Pro. Just be sure your PC hardware supports it.

Question:

Have you patched VS6 with the latest service pack (I think its SP6)?

El stupido strikes again
It was a "creeping" bad entry
Sorry all for the troubles and thanks for the help
Check check recheck and then check again
I found it after all systems including Win 2000 did not work
I had not worked on modules for 2 years that is my feable excuse

Glad you found the problem...sometime it takes the threat of an upgrade
To help solve the problem... :)

I still recommend upgrading to win 7 Pro...you'll be happier with it.
