Ethernet compatible microcontroller

Hello,
i am doing a project for the LAN of Energy meter and collecting the whole information in one place so please anyone tell me which PIC or any other micro controller IC will be compatible for Ethernet communication.

Look at the Arduino with an ethernet shield. Lady Ada's site should help.
