how ade7751 measures energy

it actually multiplies the instantaneous values of vlotage and current ans sum them up for a period of operation.

im designing a meter for one particular application say a 10A meter the problem im having is that the ic gets damaged frequently i hav replaced nearly 3 ics. could someone suggest an exact circuit for the design im using CT's (hall effect) with ratio 1:1000 is it necessary to giv the neutral current as input if i don want to detect fault
