I know many people have asked this over and over, well now its my turn. I would like to build an EMP generator. Now, yes i know i could just google it, and i have. turns out everywhere i looked people were looking at long ranges and/or highly directional. I want one that can work in whatever is easiest of these: range, direction, reuse, AC/DC (are there DC?)
i dont care what range, what directionality, reuseable would be nice. help help?

Personally i just want to know how they work and be able to say that i have one working or not. i hear they are bulky, dangerous, and illegal. so even a mock one would be nice.

There is no way to do it practically. Most of what you read is speculation based on what people see in movies.

Then just get an old cardboard box, paint it a nice colour, and write "EMP Generator" on the side of it - add a few flashing lights and knobs as well.
Sounds about right to me.
Just hook it up to a home made "Mr Fusion" and you will be good to go.

HAHA! excellent, but it needs to have some innards and weight. perhaps that magnetron and transformer i just got!

I have one that I got about 10 years ago, still works too. It is about the size of a 9V battery and is powered by a 9V battery. It came as a kit. It has a range of about 20-inches and is omni-directional. Don't remember here i got it from.

It uses a 555, 47K pot, 20K resistor, 104z Ceramic Capacitor, IRF840 N-CHANNEL POWER MOSFETS w/ heat-sink , switch , and battery clip.
