electroless tinning

I know this is a stale post.
Chemelec suggested using Nickel instead of tin on boards but no source was ever suggested.



I have never used the stuff.

Seems like a nice kit, but keep in mind, the minimum lot price most job shops would charge you for running electroless nickle parts makes it cheaper to use a job shop than it would be buy the minikit, and electroless nickle doesn't keep. The bath can't simply be maintained by adding chemicals, it eventually goes bad and does not store well at all. If you're going to do that, might as well send it for electrolytic nickle as it's generally cheaper. Just don't be surprised if the prices go up, Nickle prices have gone up dramatically in recent months.

I'm getting good results on pc boards with some stuff called Cuproposit. The stuff's a powder and the age must be about 30 years. It just mixes with water. Dip the board and it plates on nice, shiny tin.
