Driving a motor

hi all
i have to drive 12 volt dc motors ,solenoid rating is 5 amps , using PIC microcontroller, can any one suggest what type of interface ckt can i go for bet microcontroller and dc motor.

Do you need to drive the motor forward and backwards? If so, look into h-bridges. If not, you could do it with a simple transistor or relay. Is the motor rated to 5A or do you need to drive a solenoid also?
