Displaying GPS data on LCD using a PIC

Hi,
If i wanted to display the speed at which a body was moving on an LCD could i use a GPS module. If so which GPS module would be best and how would i set about doing it?

Thats a pretty broad question. Maybe you can do some research first and see if you understand how the GPS works and what NMEA data string you propose to use.
