Hi i'm trying to create a digital lock using a keypad, some sort of solenoid or other type of locking mechanism. I need to use some digital logic gates and some sort of shift register to store the data. I would assume i would need to use a decimal to bdc encoder then. Would i use some sort of dip switch to hold the code or would there be something better? and any suggestions for parts like the keypad and the solenoid would be helpful i'm trying to keep this cheap and some what simple.
