My advice -> buy a cheapo watch. It probably costs as much with added functionality.
Anyway, it's better to use a RTC. A popular choice is Dallas's DS1302.
 
A pic16f84 is perfectly capable of running a clock on it's own, without RTC chip. It would be a nice project to learn pic programming...

But, seeing you just want a complete program to slap together a clock, i have to agree with checkmate, buying one will be cheaper
