Did not know that. Always give them sugar water when we go to the NC Mnts. Wondered how they managed to get so much out of it (they weren't!)...
 
I've been feeding them sugar water for years. Did not know the ate insects. Thanks for the information.
 
One of the best parts about moving to my hobby farm has been bird watching. Last Summer, I noticed several humming birds about the house -- a log cabin. Now, I know why. I suspect they eat larvae from carpenter bees. I will put out a welcome mat in the Spring.
