Delay problem in ATMega32

Hi to all...
I am using code vision avr software for programming ATMega32 in C language... when i use delay_ms(500) command it gives more than 500 ms delay.. what might be the problem.. Whether i have to change any settings...

I use WinAVR software
there I need to create a "makefile"
in that file I need to define F_CPU, which means crystal frequency.
so if I am using crystal of 12MHz then I write, F_CPU = 12000000

if you are doing the same thing then u need to use the same value for F_CPU

But there is no such thing in code vision avr software like F_CPU...
