hi
i have a sony radio/tape player/CD player but the CD doesn't work
the display is blank and it just does nothing. only the CD cover works cos' that doesn't need power to open or close.
what could be wrong?

Could be as simple as a dirty lens, or it could be a serious malfunction.
Chances are though, if it is anything more than a dirty lens you are probably better off buying a new one. They can be kinda complicated to diagnose

does the tape/radio work? if not, it could be the fuse if it is, then it could be many things, have you bashed it atall or put pressure/straign on anything?
could it be the power suply for the cd player? (that is just a gues, dunno if there is a seperate power supply) is there a display for anything?

the CD has no reperate power supply, it's powered from inside the main circuit board. the display is only for the CD and it doesn't come on at all though the power indicator seams to say there is power going into the CD section. tape is working fine and radio is also working fine.
