Current Limit

D1 isn't necessary because R5/R23 form a divider. You have to make sure the reverse bias on b-e doesn't exceed rating. It's OK with current values.
Same with the gate-source. Current values of Z4, Z6, R4, R16 make protection unnecessary. You would have to verify any changes you make.

The 10A b-c current might have been due to the model I was using, but 140mA is still too much. It's across 32V, so it would be 4-1/2 watts.
