Current control with a Pchannel

Hia ll:
I'd like to place constant current control of a pwr supply under uC management.

Would using a Pchannel with uC PID PWM via a low pass filter on it's gate be a decent method?

Loads are up to 10A. Max V, 40VDC.

I am using this:

to advise the uC of the current drawn.

Not sure about the LPF on the gate. Won't that prevent the FET switching rapidly and result in it getting very hot?

PFet will get hot, it's throttling the current by being a dynamic resistor.
