there are 3 kind of "pipes":
1) white one(used for heating something in there)
2) a clear glass(the light you see when it is coping)
3) a blue one(I dont know what for it is)
and the questions are:

how to turn all of them on?
Different types uses different lamps. The heating lamp looks like a simply halogen lamp, but the wolfram (tungsten?) spiral density higher on the both side. The white lamp (sometimes fluorescent lamp) must be the exposition light. The blue (probably fluorescent ) lamp work as discharger of copy drum.
well if u really want to, take it out of the copy machine and put it ina industrial sized microwave this makes the argon gass in the tube excite the conductor (the white stuff or the tugsen) and it glows.
