I though I'd point out a neat tool that might help out people who are just getting started on microcontrollers.
Its called "PSoC Express". It works with Cypress' PSoC microcontrollers CY8C27 series and CY8C29 series (
www.digikey.com sells them). It lets you do LED flashing, Ato D, PWM, Fan control and other simple I/O stuff using a graphical interface. You can also build simple I2C slaves. There is no programming involved. It also has a handy simulator to test the design. You can get it free from Cypress' website.
