Convert TV to Light Box display

I have a LG 60LN5400 with a busted LCD so I'm trying to convert it to a static sign display using the LED back light for a children's museum. The problem is the TV wont stay on which I assume is a power saving function. Is there a way to just power the LED driver and bypass the the power saving function?
