computer steering wheel into force feedback?

I took apart an old force-feedback joystick that wasn't working...

It had two 12v motors with rollers on them - the rollers rubbed paddle-like things that were attached to the joystick to move it left/right/up/down.

Sorry for the poor explanation, but I got rid of all of the parts (except the motors) a while back, so no pics.

As far as I know the hardware inside the wheel needs to have options for force feedback...otherwise I can't think of any other way to interface it with the built in drivers/software.

There's my two cents.
