Component identification?

Could somebody identify this component for me please & it's purpose, it comes out of a microwave oven.

The picture is a bit out of focus--sorry about that.

It's a thermal cut out. It disconnects the power when a certain temperature is exceeded.

Some are resettable and some are single use devices.

The cutout temperature should be clearly marked on the case.
 
Yup. There was one in my old electric clothes dryer. It stuck in the on position and toasted a load of laundry.....a golden brown crispy polyester.
