(complete newbie) whr to get a circuit plan to make an automatic food dispenser?

hei thr, heres the problem..for my project i need to make an automatic cat food dispenser with timer.

for example u can set the 'projects' timer to 45mins, and every 45 mins it will move a motor to open n close a small door to realese the cat food

ive got the idea on the design of this project but i have no idea on how to start with the circuit board...

if anyone has a simple black n white circuit plan, that would help a lot

Oddly I saw where someone just created some of these. This one uses an arduino, but a similar version could be made with any microcontroller really.
