Colour Recognition System

Thanks to all those who answered my previous post on the snnoker scoring system. I'm still trying to find out as much information as I can on the system for colour recognition. It's a third year degree project, so just about everything has to be built from sctratch. Any help with schematics, diagrams, component lists etc. would be very greatfully accepted.

this litle 8 pined smd chip gives you rgb values in analog so reading it is the easiest.
