Coin Switch?

I've seen pictures of them, but I can only find them in AC. I need them to detect a coin in a vending machine, but I don't get how they work... it's like a wire boom goes out and can be bent anyway you want, and when it is hit it lets electricity through... Am I correct?

A micro switch with a wire operating lever is sometimes used for coin detection.

It will as well detect buttons.

A coin detector normally measures weight (depending on the size ± 0.5g), diameter and width of the coin - for good reasons.

Wire hinge levers were used in the 60s, but replaced by more complex machines in the meanwhile.
