Capacitor question.

Hello,
I am replacing a burned out transformer in a bug zapper. The replacement transformer I have has an output voltage of 3500 volts. Can I add a capacitor to the output to increase the voltage when the unit zaps a bug? The current voltage is less than the old transformer.
